What you get
Microsoft 365 management, not just Microsoft 365 licenses
Almost every business we take on already has Microsoft 365. Very few of them have it configured. Somebody bought licenses, mail started working, and nothing was touched again. That is the normal starting point, not a failure, and it is where most of the value in this service actually sits.
The first thing we usually find is licensing that has drifted. Seats still assigned to people who left. Everyone on the same expensive plan when half the team needs a lighter one. Two products paid for that overlap. Right-sizing that is often the least glamorous part of the work and the part that pays for itself fastest, and we are a Microsoft partner buying through Pax8, so the licensing conversation is one we can actually have rather than one we point you at a portal for.
Then the tenant itself. Multi-factor authentication enforced rather than merely available. Conditional access set so a sign-in from somewhere implausible gets challenged. Sharing rules that stop a SharePoint library quietly becoming public through one link. Admin accounts separated from daily-use accounts. Former staff actually offboarded rather than left sitting there with a licence and a mailbox. None of that is exotic, and almost none of it is on by default.
The gap people are most surprised by is backup. Microsoft keeps the platform running, which is not the same as keeping your data safe. Retention policies expire, deleted items age out, and a compromised account can destroy plenty before anyone notices. Microsoft 365 is backed up separately on every plan we run, which is a deliberate choice rather than an upsell.
How a cloud migration works
What a migration looks like
A clean migration to the cloud, start to finish
Migration steps
Data and accounts moved
✓ Done · email, files, user accounts
Workloads and apps moved
✓ Done · permissions preserved
Cut over and verified
✓ Done · traffic on the new platform
Old infrastructure retired
✓ Done · nothing left running behind
The result
What changes for the better
No aging server in a closet to nurse along, and no capital outlay the next time you grow. Adding capacity is a setting, not a purchase order.
Your team works from anywhere, on any device, with the same access they had at their desks.
Backups run offsite automatically, so a fire or a failed drive is no longer a disaster.
Patching and platform upkeep stop landing on your team. It's handled, and you have one number to call when something isn't right.
What a cloud migration actually costs
Three separate things get bundled together in most sales conversations, and separating them is the only way to compare quotes honestly.
The migration itself is project work. It is scoped and quoted against your environment before anything starts, and the number depends on how much has to move, how tidy it is, and whether anything needs rebuilding on the way. A mailbox move for fifteen people is not the same job as retiring a file server that three applications point at. We quote it once we have looked, not before.
Licensing is a pass-through. Microsoft sets those prices and you pay per user per month whether you buy them through us or direct. What changes is whether anyone is checking that you are on the right plans, which is where businesses usually find money rather than spend it.
Ongoing management is part of your monthly plan, not an extra. If we manage your IT, we manage your cloud, and there is no separate cloud line item to negotiate later.
The one thing we will not do is quote a migration off a phone call. Anyone who gives you a firm number before looking at your environment is either padding it heavily or is about to discover something halfway through and come back for more. Both cost you more than an honest assessment would have.
Common questions about cloud services
For a straightforward move of email and files for a team of twenty to fifty, plan on two to four weeks end to end, with the cutover itself happening over a single weekend or overnight window. Most of that time is preparation rather than moving data. If there is a file server that line-of-business applications depend on, or an old on-premises Exchange, it takes longer and we will say so during the assessment rather than after you have committed.
